8100 Aussie casino staff suspended

Thousands of Australians have found themselves out of work today as the coronavirus crisis deepens.
Earlier today, it was revealed Mosaic Brands had stood down 6800 workers from its Noni B, Katies and Rivers fashion brands.
And the Star Entertainment Group has become another COVID-19 victim following the Government's decision to close entertainment businesses including cinemas, pubs - and casinos.
Today, the group announced to investors that its casino operations in Sydney, the Gold Coast and Brisbane had been seriously impacted by the ban on social gatherings, and that as a result 90 per cent of its 9000-strong workforce would be temporarily stood down.
Around 8100 jobs are affected, including senior management roles.
"The Star has taken a very difficult, but necessary, decision in relation to its workforce ... these stand downs include senior management," the company said in a release.
The company is providing two weeks of paid pandemic leave and workers will also have access to annual and long service leave entitlements.
