HENDERSON -- The City of Henderson plans to consider whether to sell a nine-acre parcel of land near the M Resort and the Las Vegas Raiders practice facility to Marnell Gaming Management LLC. The gaming company from Anthony Marnell III, who developed the M Resort, wants spend about $250 million to build a new hotel and casino on the land on the northwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard South and St. Rose Parkway. The city bought the land in 2019 for $4.1 million. While appraisers value the land at $6.5 million, the city put a $4.3 million price tag on the plot for Marnell. State law permits the city to sell the land below market value for economic development purposes, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. [LVRJ]
COSMOPOLITAN OF LAS VEGAS -- Former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict just wanted to find the Pizzeria, the pizza restaurant often called Secret Pizza at the resort, when he was arrested for misdemeanor battery last Friday night. Burfict and his two friends blocked security guard Christian Anguiano and another security officer from exiting an escalator before attempting to shove him down the escalator, the Review-Journal reports. Apparently the group became irate when trying to find the restaurant, the paper reports. Burfict is due in court on February 3. [LVRJ]
TV LAND -- UNLV quarterback Max Gilliam apologized for eating sushi off a nude model on the Bravo reality TV show Below Deck. "I would like to apologize for my poor judgment while on the TV show 'Below Deck' and acknowledge that I have made a mistake that I will learn from," he tweeted Monday. "While it was not my idea nor any of my friends' ideas to eat sushi off of a model, I should have exercised better judgment and declined the idea immediately when it was brought up by the producers. This is not a reflection of my character or the way I was raised nor a reflection of the culture of UNLV Football. I would like to humbly move past this and focus my time and energy on our game against the University of Hawaii this weekend." [Twitter/Sporting News]
