Casino vendor Novomatic has received a Global Gaming Award as "Casino Supplier of the Year" for the third year in a row at the recent International Casino Exhibition (ICE) London 2020 show for its efforts, which include biometric products for access control, payments and payouts.

Scientific Games was also honored with several awards at the event, including "Supplier Innovation of the Year" for its SG Vision product, which provides biometrics along with object recognition and computer vision to simplify operations and enhance player experiences across the company's entertainment ecosystem.

Biometric technology for access control was featured among the numerous new game titles and systems showed off by Novomatic at the event, Yogonet reports. The NBS biometric secure casino access control system was on display, along with the myACP Casino Management System.

Novomatic Group has reported revenue of $5.6 billion for the year, and is working to help casino's integrate biometrics for payments and payouts as well as access control as the industry adapts to digital innovation, according to CalvinAyre.com.

"The patented technology is already being used on gaming machines in Europe. Customers should be able to use their biometric ID to gain access to any of the operator's gaming facilities and have game credit virtually at their disposal," the company explained at ICE 2020. "The application also allows licensed operators such as ADMIRAL to implement effective player protection measures. The fingerprint thus replaces the player card, which is required in many countries."

Biometrics, AI and machine learning could significantly shape the future of the gaming industry, according to a recent report.
