Thursday 19th December 2019

Final licensing approval has been granted for the Hollywood Casino York in the Galleria Mall in Springettsbury Township, Pennsylvania, for Penn National Gaming.

The big US operator had sought approval from the state's Gaming Control Board for the venue, located to attract players from south central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. The group already has the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.

The York location represents an investment of $120m and has 80,000sq.ft containing 500 slots, 24 table games but with the ability to offer 750 slots and 40 tables. It also has sports and race book facilities, restaurants and bars. It is hoped that construction will be completed in 12 months and the casino will be open for business early in 2021.

It is the third licence awarded to Penn National in the state - the other is Morgantown that will open later in 2020.
