Grand Casino announces reopening dates of Onamia, Hinckley locations
Thursday 28th May 2020
HINCKLEY, MN-- Officials with Grand Casino announced they'll be reopening both their Mille Lacs and Hinckley location Monday at 9:00 a.m.
Both locations closed down back on March 16 due to concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The sudden shifts that we have experienced in such a short timeframe due to this pandemic have given us the opportunity to question key assumptions about how we operate and to develop new best practices about safety measures for our returning Associates and our Guests," said Joe Nayquonabe, CEO of Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures, the parent company of Grand Casino. "In good conscience, we couldn't build the best health and safety plan to do our part to help mitigate the spread of illness - an illness that hinders respiratory function - while continuing to operate as we once did."
Officials say the casinos will host a soft reopening for Mille Lacs Band member shareholders May 31.
Grand Casino officials created the 'Health, Safety and Sanitation Plan', which is aimed at keeping the properties as safe as possible for guests amid the pandemic. You can view that here.
Both casinos plan on reopening their gaming floors as smoke-free environments. Officials are also assessing the development of smoking lounges within the facilities.
Grand Casino officials say this is the first part of a multi-phase reopening strategy.
Guests will be required to wear a mask, and social distancing will also be enforced. The Casino will also use non-invasive thermal cameras to scan the temperature of guests and associates.
