Hard Rock Casino may return to Las Vegas

Thursday 14th May 2020

Hard Rock could open a new casino in Las Vegas, according to CDC Gaming Reports, after Hard Rock International acquired the rights to the name Hard Rock Hotel Casino Las Vegas.

There was a Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas before, of course, just off the Strip. It was licensed and franchised to Juniper Capital, but it was closed after a series of management changes in February of this year. Rebranded as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, the 1,500-room hotel casino is due to reopen towards the end of this year.

Meanwhile, Hard Rock International CEO James Allen has said that the acquisition of the name Hard Rock Las Vegas gives the company the exclusive full rights to the name, memorabilia, signage and merchandise, intellectual property rights for affiliated restaurant and entertainment trade marks and website domain.

The transaction, he said, frees HRI from any restrictions on "developing, owning, licensing, managing or operating" any Hard Rock-branded casino within southern Nevada's Clark County - including the Las Vegas Strip.
