CHICO -- A man accused of killing his estranged mother north of Chico was arrested Thursday outside an Oroville casino.

Aaron Connors, 45, was arrested on suspicion of homicide after Susan Robb's roommate arrived at home to find Robb dead.

The male roommate called 9-1-1 around 5 p.m. Thursday after he arrived to the home he shared with Robb on the 4300 block of Keefer Road and found her body, according to a news release from Butte County Sheriff's Office.

Initially, radio traffic indicated the death it may have been a suicide, but Robb's vehicle was missing and the 68-year-old had suffered a traumatic head wound.

While deputies were at the scene north of Chico, another call reported a suspicious vehicle in front of a residence on Felicidad Lane, a nearby street.

The dispatcher who took the call ran a license plate check on the vehicle and discovered it was registered to Connors. According to the release, the dispatcher realized Connors was Robb's estranged son.

Deputies got information that Connors may have been at Gold Country Casino in Oroville and found Robb's vehicle in the parking lot there, according to the release. Casino staff helped the Sheriff's Office keep him under surveillance and deputies detained him in the parking lot when he left the casino.

The Sheriff's Office says detectives gathered evidence that gave them probable cause to believe Connors was responsible for Robb's death.

Connors is due to be arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court in Oroville on Monday, March 9. The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who may have information about this case to call BCSO detectives at 538-7671.
