Pomona Police Raid Alleged Illegal Casino - MyNewsLA.com

Pomona police served a search warrant at a business in the city and found an illegal casino with 15 people inside, authorities said Saturday.

The raid was at 8:45 p.m. Friday at 1470 West Holt Ave., said Pomona police Sgt. Mark Medellin of the Major Crimes Task Force.

"Through gathered intelligence and subsequent investigation, a warrant was obtained to address the issues associated with the illegal gambling casino at this location where police have contacted several gang members," Medellin said.

Officers first detained the people at the business, then went inside where they found "an active casino equipped with various gaming devices," the sergeant said.

No arrests were reported but the investigation was ongoing, he said.
