The holidays are here and The Downs Racetrack & Casino is adding to the cheer with festive promotions.

Experience the "$25,000 Holiday Weekend Spin" on Saturdays and Sundays in December. Guests can win their share of $3,000 cash during the promotion. Drawings will be held at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 p.m. every weekend. Three winners will be selected during each drawing for a chance to win up to $500 cash by spinning wheels.

Patrons can win some big money simply with the flip of a card during the "$120,000 Cash in the Cards" promotion, Mondays through Fridays this month. Three winners will be chosen during drawings held at noon, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 p.m. Guests chosen during the drawings will have an opportunity to win $500 in cash by flipping cards.

Rack up the points on Wednesdays, when guests earn five times the points. Triple Crown Players Club members with December birthdays earn three times the points on their birthdays and two times the points every Tuesday this month. Patrons also will accrue a bonus five times the points on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

The Downs is having a New Year's Eve Giveaway on Dec. 31. Drawings will take place from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Winners will share $5,000 cash and free-play prizes. The highest cash prize is $500.

In celebration of the arrival of 2020, The Downs will feature New Year's Eve dining and dancing. The Crown Room will be serving dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. The special menu will feature your appetizer choice of seared jumbo sea scallops or port-braised wild boar osso buco, followed by either local apple and spinach salad or pancetta potato leek soup. An intermezzo of lemon sorbet will clean the palate to prepare for either a piñon-smoked prime beef strip loin or "Fresh Maine Lobster Many Ways." The lobster course will feature Chardonnay-poached tail served over creamy lobster risotto with lobster knuckle tempura and vegetables and a classic lobster bisque. The dinner ends with an espresso chocolate crème brûlée.

Follow dinner with live music and dancing at the First Turn Lounge. Black Pearl will keep you moving and grooving all night. Enjoy a champagne toast at midnight. There is no cover to partake in the festivities.

It's always a party at The First Turn Lounge on Thursday through Saturday nights. Rotating bands will keep you on the dance floor, with the Westwind Band on Thursday, Dec. 19; Gonzalo on Dec. 20 and 21; Northern Revolution on Dec. 26; Fat City on Dec. 27 and 28, and Black Pearl on Dec. 31. Karaoke is offered every Tuesday and Wednesday for a chance to win cash prizes.

The Downs will have holiday hour changes on New Year's Eve and New Years Day. The casino will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Dec. 31 and from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Jan. 1.
