The loved-up pair were gunned down as they made their way home in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, and their killers fled the scene without taking any money or jewellery
A young couple were slaughtered in their car as they were shot 75 times while leaving a casino with over £1,400.
The loved-up pair were gunned down as they made their way home in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, near the border with Paraguay.
Their bodies were found in a bullet-ridden car along with R$10,000, the equivalent of £1,462.
Local reports said that there were 75 bullet marks from multiple firearms in the couple's car, hinting that there were likely multiple gunmen.
The victims have been named as Wellington Bruno Alves, 27, and his wife Daiane Dias Constanci, 26.
They were killed instantly, police said.
In total, 11 bullets from a pistol and 63 rifle shells were found at the scene.
Bizarrely, the gunmen fled the scene without taking any of the cash or jewellery that was left in the car.
Brazilian cops sealed off the area, and they are investigating possible motives behind the shooting with the assistance of the Paraguayan police.
Police have revealed that Alves, who was a bricklayer, was serving a non-custodial sentence for drug trafficking, after being caught transporting 500kg of cannabis to the Mato Grosso do Sul state capital Campo Grande in 2014.
Alves claimed at the time that he had no idea what the goods were and that he was transporting them at the request of a friend.
Constanci was a student and would have turned 27 on December 14. She had been in a relationship with Alves since at least January 2018.
The couple came from Ponta Pora, which is separated from the Paraguayan city of Pedro Juan Caballero by a lone avenue.
The border region is notorious for its disputes between criminal gangs involved in the drug trade.
The investigation into the couple's killing is ongoing.
